Having little to no budget for advertising, small businesses need to find creative ways to attract customers who shop in person or prefer to buy online.

So-called organic marketing strategies let companies draw and engage their target audience through content marketing, building strong referral networks, using social media and offering valuable partnerships.

Search engine optimization and other techniques are free, yet effective, means to find customers without buying ads.

“Instead of paying a hefty fee for a conference, I had a party at a local restaurant — free food, open bar,” said Ivana Taylor. “I met three clients for less than the cost of a ticket to the conference.”
