Today’s audiences might feel overwhelmed, but they are usually smart enough to spot a fake. Building strong, genuine connections is key to lasting success.

Consumers seek authenticity, engagement and real value from the brands and people they follow. For their part, businesses need to go beyond just getting attention to actually building bonds that last.

Connections to brands might seem quirky, but marketers will accept any link they can get.

Ivana Taylor, for one, admits to a predilection for Band Aids, even reciting the jingle: “I’m stuck on Band Aid ‘cuz Band Aid’s stuck on me.”

Small Budgets are Not a Big Deal

Then there is Iva Ignjatovic, who is drawn to Reebok.

“It’s not always easy to find what I’d like,” she said. “The offer is limited.”

One might think marketers could resist such ploys to attract business. One would be wrong.

Taylor owns DIYMarketers, “committed to helping small-business owners get out of overwhelm.” Ignjatovic is a marketing, strategy and business consultant.
